HOW DID THE SOUTHERN POLYMER CLAY EXTRAVAGANZA COME ABOUT?
Well, there were two ladies; Marie Segal from the USA one of the original pioneers on polymer clay techniques. Marie is an extremely well respected Polymer Clay Artist and has been for 35 years. She is also an author demonstrator and teacher with many followers on her unique ideas for using polymer clay.
There was also another lady called Birdy Heywood from the UK also a respected polymer clay artist. These two ladies met back in the nineties whilst tutoring at a PC event and instantly recognised that they were kindred souls. Both loved the material and above all they loved sharing their ideas.
Many years passed by and they lost touch with one another until a few years ago when the friendship was renewed and a positive flow of energy and ideas passed between them. They forged the idea of organising an event where likeminded people could gather in a friendly atmosphere and share in their enthusiasm for polymer clay.
Both agreed that many of the polymer Clay Retreats were way out of the price range for many who would have loved to meet up with likeminded souls.
Birdy sourced a wonderful venue in a beautiful setting beside a reservoir with 2 large classrooms, shared rooms to sleep in, all with en-suite, a large modern kitchen and lots of room for parking.
