Marie and Birdy put together a mission statement of things they would like to achieve and here it is:
THE SOUTHERN POLYMER CLAY EXTRAVAGANZA
Before Marie Segal and I, Birdy Heywood, began seriously organising our first ever Polymer Clay Retreat at Bewl Water reservoir in Kent 2014, we created a Mission Statement together incorporating all the positive things we wished to achieve.
Here it is and it is so nice to look back on as we both feel we achieved all of these and maybe a little more.
MISSION STATEMENT
1. To get the word out there, this is about ‘your’ creativity.
2. To provide some help for all.
3. This is about the connection of minds and growing together.
4. To change the perception of the way people think about the way things should be done.
5. Feed your soul, so you can weather this crazy world.
6. A place of safety to come to.
7. To meet people.
8. Connect, share and grow
9. Discover and embrace our hidden creativity
10. Return to the roots and relearn the basics in order to branch out renewed.
11. Gather together and have fun.
12. From little acorns………
It wasn’t, and will not be in the future, about money or ego, but to create and nurture a place where we can really connect and be ourselves. To laugh and work as a team, or more aptly put, as a large Polymer Clay Family.
Many of us met as strangers at the event and parted as friends who enjoyed laughing together until our sides hurt. We shared chores and so many people volunteered lifts and helped in the kitchen and with the tidying up. Everyone left for home with some wonderful creations and filled with inspiration.
This year in November we will gather together again for the second
SOUTHERN POLYMER CLAY EXTRAVAGANZA 6th 7th and 8th November 2015
Also planned is a weekend event early spring 2016!
